Getting started
Your first day with Goose, from signing in to knowing where to look each morning.
Goose prepares you for sales calls and handles what comes after them. It reads your calendar and your CRM (and your email, if your workspace has it switched on), and takes in the meetings you record. This page takes you from your invitation to a working first day.
If you're the admin setting Goose up for your team, start with Set up a new workspace instead.
1. Sign in
Access is by invitation. Open the invite link from your email, press Continue with Google or Continue with GitHub, then press Join your workspace. After that, sign in from the sign-in page with Sign in with Google or Sign in with GitHub.
If something goes wrong on the way in, such as an expired link or a message that you're not in a workspace, see Can't get in?.
2. Finish setup
A welcome screen names your workspace, then Goose walks you through a few short steps. Press Continue to move on, or Skip for now to come back to a step later. Skip setup on the welcome screen skips the whole wizard. Until you finish or skip it, Goose brings you back to the wizard whenever you open Goose.
- Sources. Connect Google Calendar first: without it, Goose can't see your meetings. The other rows (email, CRM, messaging and documents) show a button such as Connect Salesforce if your workspace has them. A row that says Not available for your workspace yet isn't switched on for you. A row with an Ask an admin button is one an admin connects for everyone.
- Capture. Choose how your meetings reach Goose: I'll upload my transcripts, Goose Companion (the desktop app for Mac), or Granola. If you choose nothing, Goose sets you up to upload transcripts. Mac downloads of the companion open when the beta starts; see Before you start.
- Process (admins only). Sets the sales framework and stages.
- Role. Choose Account Executive or Sales Engineer. This changes what Goose puts first in your briefs.
- Invite (admins only). Adds teammates.
- Brain. This step explains what Goose remembers from the sources you connect. It can't be skipped. Press Open Goose to finish, and Goose opens on Meetings.
3. Connect anything you skipped
Open the account menu at the bottom of the left rail, choose Settings, then Integrations.
- Google Calendar: press Connect. Goose brings in your meetings and prepares for them.
- Gmail, if your workspace has it: press Connect Gmail. Goose matches your email to deals and spots replies you owe.
- Salesforce: once an admin has linked your workspace to Salesforce, press Connect on the Salesforce row and sign in with your own Salesforce login. If your company signs in to Salesforce through a sandbox or its own domain, press Use a sandbox or My Domain first.
- Granola: paste your Granola API key into the Granola row, then press Confirm. You'll find the key in your Granola settings.
4. Install the companion
To record your own calls, install the desktop companion. It records on your computer without joining the call, and reminds you to get the other people's consent before it starts. Goose writes up the meeting once the call ends. Mac downloads open when the beta starts; see Before you start.
5. Where to look first
- Home is your day. It shows your next meeting and its prep, the follow-ups and decisions waiting on you, and your deals.
- Meetings lists every meeting, upcoming and past. Open one to see its prep or its notes.
- Deals is your pipeline. Open a deal to see everything Goose knows about it.
- Ask Gus in the left rail is the assistant (⌘J or Ctrl J). See Ask Gus.
To find a deal, meeting or person quickly, use Search in the left rail (⌘K or Ctrl K).
What fills in when
A new account starts mostly empty. Each part of Goose fills in once the thing it needs is connected or has happened.
Home. Before you connect Google Calendar:
- The top card says Connect a calendar, with a Connect Google Calendar button.
- The day column says The story of your day lands here.
- Your queue says Your queue starts after your first call.
After you connect it, the top card shows your next meeting and the day column fills with your meetings. The queue fills with follow-ups and questions once your first customer call has been written up.
Meetings. With nothing connected, the table says No meetings yet. Your calendar's meetings appear once Google Calendar is connected. Recorded calls appear too: from the companion, from Granola if you connected it, or when you upload a transcript to a meeting.
Briefs. Goose writes a brief on its own for customer meetings in the next three days that are linked to a deal or a company. Internal meetings don't get one. If a meeting you care about has no brief yet, open it and press Prepare a brief. See Before a meeting.
Notes and to-dos. These appear after a call, once its transcript reaches Goose. See After a meeting.
Deals. The page says No deals to track until your workspace has deals. Create one with New deal, or add your opportunities once Salesforce is connected.
Note
Deals also needs a sales methodology. If your workspace has deals but no methodology picked, the whole Deals page shows No sales methodology selected instead of your deals. Only an admin can pick one, in Settings › Sales Process › Methodology, so if you see this, ask an admin. See Pick a sales methodology.
Get help
Press Help in the left rail, just above your avatar. It opens a short form: write your note, pick a category if you like (Question, Bug, Idea or Friction), and press Send.
If you'd rather email, write to support@getgoose.ai. The address is on the form too, with a Copy button.
