Invite and manage your team

Invite people by email or domain, choose their role, follow up on invitations, approve requests, and suspend or remove people.

Everyone in your workspace is listed in Settings › Members. Owners and admins can invite people and change their access there. Leads and members see the list read-only, with the note Read only — admins manage members.

Settings, Members: a table of three people with their email, role, status and join date. Jordan Avery is the Owner, Renata Okafor is a Lead tagged Manager, and Theo Lindqvist is a Member, all Active, each with an actions menu on the right. The Invite member button is at the top right.
Settings › Members lists everyone in the workspace, and anyone invited who hasn't joined yet.

Invite someone

  1. Open the account menu at the bottom of the left rail, choose Settings, then Members.
  2. Press Invite member.
  3. Choose By email or By domain (see below), and fill in the address or the domain.
  4. Pick a Role (for a domain invite, the field is Role on approval).
  5. Press Send invite.
The Invite member dialog: By email and By domain choices, an Email address box, a Role menu set to Member, and Cancel and Send invite buttons.
Invite one person by email, or let everyone at your company's domain ask to join.

By email

Goose emails the person an invitation link. They open it, sign in with Google or GitHub, and join straight away with the role you picked.

After you press Send invite, the dialog also shows the link under Invite link (manual fallback), with a Copy button, in case the email doesn't arrive. Send each link only to the person it's meant for.

An invitation lasts seven days.

By domain

A domain invite, such as yourcompany.com, has no link and sends no email. Instead, anyone who signs up to Goose with an address at that domain asks to join your workspace. Their request waits for an admin to approve it, and they can't use Goose until someone does. The role you pick under Role on approval is the role they get once approved.

A domain invite only applies when someone signs in to Goose for the first time. For someone who already has a Goose account, send an email invite instead.

A domain invite also lasts seven days, and it can't be resent. To keep your domain open after that, revoke the expired invite and create a new one.

Which roles you can give

  • Member: works in the workspace. They can see the workspace's settings but not change them.
  • Lead: a member who can also manage the whole team's deals: edit or reassign any deal, and use the team views.
  • Admin: can also change workspace settings and manage members.
  • Owner: the person who created the workspace. Only the owner can export or delete the workspace, in Settings › Data & trust.

You can only give roles below your own. An owner can invite or make admins, leads and members. An admin can invite or make leads and members.

Separately from the role, each person's ⋯ menu has Set persona, with Make AE, Make SE and Make Manager. This shapes what Goose puts first for them, not what they're allowed to do. For a member, the last one reads Make Manager (raises to Lead), because it also raises them to Lead.

Invitations that haven't been accepted

Only owners and admins see these rows.

People you've invited but who haven't joined yet appear in the same table with the status Pending. An email invitation reads Invited by and the admin's name, with not joined yet. A domain invitation shows as @ and the domain, with Domain invite — claimed at sign-up. Under the status you'll see when it was sent and when it expires, or Expired in red once it has run out.

The ⋯ menu on an invitation row has:

  • Resend invitation: emails the same link again and gives it another seven days. This works on an expired invitation too. You can resend once a minute. Domain invitations aren't emailed, so this is grayed out for them.
  • Revoke invitation: the link stops working. You can invite the same person again later.

Approve or decline a request to join

Someone who signed up through a domain invite appears with the status Pending and two buttons:

  • Approve lets them in with the role on the domain invite.
  • Decline turns down their request and removes them from the list.

Change someone's role

Open the ⋯ menu on their row and choose a role under Change role, for example Make Admin. An option is grayed out when the change isn't allowed: you can't change your own role, the role of someone who outranks you, or the role of the workspace's only owner.

Suspend or remove someone

Both are in the ⋯ menu on the person's row, and both ask you to confirm.

  • Suspend member shuts them out of the workspace but keeps them on the list with the status Suspended. To let them back in, press Reactivate on their row, or choose Reactivate member in its ⋯ menu.
  • Remove from org deletes their membership, and their access ends straight away. To bring them back, invite them again.

You can't suspend or remove yourself, someone who outranks you, or the workspace's only owner.

What you can't do here

  • Transfer ownership. No one can give the owner role to someone else, and the only owner can't be demoted.
  • Leave a workspace. There's no button to leave. A lead or member who wants out can ask an admin to remove them. The owner can't be removed.
