Ask Gus
What Gus can change for you
The changes Gus makes as soon as you ask, the ones that wait in Agent proposals for you to confirm, and the admin switch that allows both.
Besides answering questions, Gus can make changes in Goose when you ask it to, such as "Add a to-do to send the pricing sheet by Friday" or "Move this deal to Proposal". Small changes that are easy to undo happen straight away. Changes to a deal's numbers, its team, a company's domain and a few others wait for you to confirm them first.
First, an admin turns on Agent writes
Gus can only change things if your workspace allows it. An admin or the owner turns this on in Settings › Organization, under Agent writes. It's off for a new workspace, and AI assistants, just above it on the same page, has to be on first.
While Agent writes is off, Gus still answers questions and can still start a document for you, but it can't make any of the other changes on this page, including the ones that wait for you to confirm. If you ask it to, it tells you the change was refused and that an admin can turn Agent writes on.
AI assistants only has to be on when Agent writes is turned on. Turning AI assistants off later cuts off assistants connected from outside Goose, but Gus keeps making changes while Agent writes stays on. To stop Gus changing things, turn off Agent writes. Changes Gus has already made stay as they are.
Gus acts as you. If your role or your seat doesn't let you make a change yourself, Gus can't make it either. A read-only seat can't ask Gus anything at all. Some changes also depend on parts of Goose your workspace has switched on, so Gus may not offer all of them.
Changes Gus makes straight away
When you ask for one of these, Gus makes the change without asking again.
To-dos
- Adds a to-do. It's always yours: on a deal if you name one, otherwise on your internal list.
- Changes a to-do: marks it done, dismisses or reopens it, changes its text or due date, or gives it to a teammate.
- Writes an answer to a to-do that is an open question. A new answer replaces the old one.
- Asks Goose to research a to-do that is an open question.
Notes
- Writes the SE or AE note for a call, or replaces the text of the one that's there.
Deals, companies and people
- Creates a new deal, company or contact.
- Renames a contact, or changes which company they belong to. Gus can't change a contact's email address.
- Links a meeting to a deal, which also puts the meeting on the deal's company.
- Marks one of a deal's exit criteria as confirmed or corrected, with an optional note.
Things that need your attention
- Clears an item from the list of things that need your attention, or puts it back.
Work Goose does in the background
These start a job and return before it's done, so the result turns up a little later.
- Works out the next best actions for a deal.
- Runs Goose's analysis of a meeting whose analysis didn't finish, so its notes and to-dos are pulled from the call. A meeting that's already been analyzed is refused, and nothing is charged. A meeting with more than one recording uses the latest one.
- Starts an email draft about a company, such as a follow-up or a scheduling email, for you to review and send yourself.
- Starts a document about a deal or company. It appears on your Golden Eggs page, and in your Goose folder in Google Drive if you've connected Drive. This is the one change Gus can make while Agent writes is off.
Changes that wait for you to confirm
These changes are harder to take back, so Gus doesn't make them. It files them in Agent proposals and tells you they're waiting there. Each one is named in the list as shown in bold below.
- Update deal: changes a deal's amount, stage, close date, owner or other details such as its name, company, forecast category, health or next step. Amount, stage, close date and owner feed the pipeline and the forecast, so everyone in your workspace sees the new numbers. Moving an open deal into your workspace's closing stage also marks it won or lost.
- Deal status: marks a deal won or lost, or reopens it. Marking it won or lost sets its close date. Reopening it clears that date and the reason it was lost.
- Deal team: replaces the whole team on a deal. Anyone left off the new list loses the deal from their pipeline.
- Deal qualification: rewrites a deal's qualification evidence. The old wording isn't kept.
- Contact role: changes someone's role on a deal, such as champion, economic buyer or blocker.
- Update account: renames a company or changes its domain. Goose matches incoming email and meetings to a company by its domain, so after a change, new email and meetings from the old domain no longer land on this company. Ones already matched stay where they are.
- Settle account: approves a provisional company, so meetings, deals and contacts can be filed against it, or rejects it.
- Share meeting: creates a public link to a meeting. Anyone with the link can read the meeting without signing in until the link expires. Only the meeting's owner, or a lead, admin or owner, can share a meeting.
- New play: creates a play for everyone in your workspace. It starts switched off, and each person turns it on for themselves.
Confirm or dismiss a change
- Open the account menu at the bottom of the left rail and choose Agent proposals. A number next to it shows how many proposals are waiting across your workspace.
- Find the change under Waiting for you. Show what changes shows exactly what Gus proposed.
- Press Confirm to make the change, or Dismiss to turn it down. Goose says what confirming will do before you press it.
A proposal expires 24 hours after Gus files it. Confirming writes exactly the values Gus proposed, even if someone has changed the same field since, so check Show what changes before you confirm an older one.
Dismissing one is permanent. If you ask Gus for exactly the same change again within the same day (UTC), it points you back to the one you dismissed; change the request or ask again the next day. Changes you've confirmed, dismissed or let expire stay in the list under Already decided.
Everyone in your workspace can see the list, including changes teammates asked for. Only the person who asked Gus for a change can confirm it. A lead, admin or owner can dismiss a teammate's proposal.
How to tell what Gus did
Gus says in its answer what it changed or filed. Show steps, under the answer, lists each change in plain words:
- Created the to-do, Linked the meeting to the deal and so on: the change was made.
- Filed a deal update for your confirmation and the like: it's waiting in Agent proposals.
- Couldn't create the to-do and the like: nothing changed. Gus says why in its answer.
- Didn't hear back while creating the to-do and the like: Goose couldn't tell whether the change went through. Check the record before you ask again.
