Connections
Google Calendar
Connect your Google Calendar so your meetings show up in Goose, choose which calendars it reads, and set your booking and time zone options.
Google Calendar is the connection to make first. Without it, Goose can't see your meetings, so Home and the Meetings page stay mostly empty.
Connect it
- Open Settings › Integrations.
- On the Google Calendar row, press Connect.
- Sign in to Google and allow access. You come back to Integrations, and a banner says Google Calendar connected.
The row moves to Connected and shows the Google account it uses.
What Goose reads
Goose reads the events on the calendars you've switched on: their titles, times and who's invited. From that it:
- shows your meetings on the Meetings page and on Home;
- works out which company a meeting is with from the people invited, and puts it on a deal when it can (see How meetings land on deals);
- prepares briefs for upcoming meetings with people outside your company that are tied to a deal or a company.
When you add, move or cancel an event in Google Calendar, Goose picks up the change.
Some calendar entries aren't treated as meetings and don't show in the Meetings table, unless they were recorded: all-day events, anything eight hours or longer, and events with nobody else invited. See The Meetings page.
Choose which calendars Goose reads
Once Google Calendar is connected, its row shows Visible calendars: every calendar your Google account can see, each with a switch.
- Switch a calendar on for Goose to read its meetings, or off to stop. Switching one off removes its upcoming meetings from Goose; past and recorded ones stay.
- For each calendar that's on, choose Only me or Team to decide who sees its meetings.
- A calendar marked Free/busy only, so Goose can't read these meetings. is shared with you as times only. Goose can't read it.
- The dot next to a calendar is its color in Goose. Press it to pick another color. Only you see the color you pick.
- Reset to default puts every calendar back to how it started.
To begin with, Goose reads only your primary calendar, and shares its meetings with your team. Events with nobody else invited stay private. A calendar you switch on starts as Only me. Who can see your meetings explains the sharing choices in full.
If a calendar you want isn't listed, add it in Google Calendar under Other calendars. It then shows up here.
If a calendar's name is an email address that Goose doesn't know is yours, the row asks Is this your address? Press Link it to you if it is, or Not me if it isn't.
Options
Press Options under the calendar list to open these settings.
- Your time zone. Goose uses your Google Calendar's time zone. Press Change to pick another, or choose Use my Google Calendar's time zone to go back.
In workspaces where Goose can book meetings, three more settings appear above it:
- Allow Goose to create or edit meetings on your behalf. Lets Goose book the meetings your Scheduling to-dos ask for. Google sends the invite from your calendar, and Goose only changes events it created. Turning this on takes you to Google to allow it.
- Allow Goose to book meetings automatically, without a confirmation click. When a reply names a time that suits everyone, Goose books it, and you can undo. With it off, Goose waits for you to press Book it. It needs the setting above turned on first.
- Default video call. Google Meet, Paste a link… or No video call. You can still change it for each booking.
Common snags
- A meeting isn't in Goose. Check that its calendar is switched on under Visible calendars. All-day events, events eight hours or longer, and events with nobody else invited don't show in the Meetings table.
- The calendar list says Couldn't load your calendars. Press Reconnect on the Google Calendar row, then try again.
- The row says Reconnect to add contact photos. Goose now asks Google for permission to show contact photos. Press Reconnect and allow it. Your calendar keeps working either way.
- A meeting I set to Only me is visible to my team. If a teammate is also invited and their calendar is shared with the team, the meeting is shared, and Goose never makes a shared meeting private again. To keep it from everyone, use Hide from Goose. See Who can see your meetings.
- I switched on a calendar I manage for someone else. Its meetings show in Goose as yours.
- The row is under Needs attention. Google stopped accepting Goose's access, so calendar sync is paused. Press Reconnect. See Reconnect or disconnect.
