Set up a new workspace

For the first admin. Create the workspace, set your stages and sales methodology, invite your team and decide on Goose Brain.

This page is for the person setting Goose up for their team. You create the workspace, which makes you its owner, then a short setup wizard covers the rest. Everything you choose here can be changed later in Settings.

1. Create the workspace

  1. Go to the Goose sign-in page and press Sign in with Google or Sign in with GitHub. Use your work email.
  2. If you don't belong to a workspace yet, Goose asks you to create one. Type your company's name under Organization name and press Create Organization.

You're now the workspace's owner, and the setup wizard opens. You can rename the workspace later under Settings › Organization.

If Goose shows Goose is invite-only right now instead, your email hasn't been let in yet. See Can't get in?.

Note

If your team already uses Goose, don't create a second workspace. Ask an admin of the existing one to invite you.

2. Walk through setup

The wizard opens with a welcome screen, then these steps. Continue moves on and Skip for now leaves a step for later. Skip setup on the welcome screen skips the whole wizard. Your teammates get a shorter version of the same wizard, without the Process and Invite steps.

  1. Sources. Connect your own Google Calendar, and anything else your workspace offers. See Getting started for what each row means.
  2. Capture. How your own meetings reach Goose: the companion, Granola, or uploaded transcripts.
  3. Process. Your sales methodology and stages. See step 3.
  4. Role. Account Executive or Sales Engineer, for your own briefs.
  5. Invite. Your teammates. See step 4.
  6. Brain. Whether Goose keeps what it learns from your sources. See step 5.

When you press Open Goose on the last step, Goose opens on Meetings.

3. Set your stages and methodology

The Process step is titled How do you sell?.

Framework. Open the menu and pick your sales methodology: MEDDPICC, MEDDICC, BANT, SPICED or JOLT. Goose shows the dimensions it will track on every deal, and scores each deal against them after its calls.

Stages. These are the steps a deal moves through. Press a template to start from it: B2B SaaS, Enterprise, Transactional, Product-led or Services. Or press Or start from scratch and type your own. Once you have a list, Edit changes it and Reset takes you back to the templates. While you're editing, press Done before Continue.

You don't need won and lost stages to link Salesforce later. See Won and lost stages.

Skip for now on this step saves nothing. You can set both later in Settings › Sales Process.

Warning

With no sales methodology picked, the Deals page is blank. Once your workspace has deals, everyone sees No sales methodology selected on Deals instead of the deals themselves, until an admin picks one. Your teammates can't fix this themselves, so pick a methodology during setup or straight after.

4. Invite your team

On the Invite your team step, type a teammate's email, pick a role and press Add. Add as many as you like, then press Continue to send them all. Skip for now sends none. Goose emails each person a link, and they join as soon as they sign in with it.

To let a whole domain ask to join, use Settings › Members after setup.

Send each invite only to the person it's meant for. For roles, invite rules, and what to do with invitations later, see Invite and manage your team.

5. Decide on Goose Brain

The last step, Meet Goose Brain, explains what Goose Brain does: it keeps excerpts from your meetings, other connected sources and, if connected, customer email, with where and when each came from. Briefs, summaries and Ask Gus answers draw on it.

Goose Brain is on by default. The switch on this step, Goose Brain remembers what you connect, turns it off for the whole workspace. Turning it off stops Goose adding to it; what it already keeps stays until you ask for it to be deleted. If you turn it back on, Goose asks you to confirm with Turn on Goose Brain.

If the switch isn't there, Goose Brain isn't available for your workspace yet.

You can change this any time in Settings › Brain.

Settings, Brain: the Goose Brain card with its switch turned on and the line Goose Brain is on for this workspace.
Settings › Brain: the workspace's Goose Brain switch.

Change stages and methodology later

Open the account menu at the bottom of the left rail, choose Settings, then Sales Process. Only owners and admins can change anything here. Everyone else sees the page read-only. The Stages tab, templates, importing stages from Salesforce and the fiscal year are covered in Your sales process.

Pick a sales methodology

On the Methodology tab, the current methodology sits at the top with its dimensions. Press a different one below to switch. Goose asks you to confirm: the change applies going forward, and deals re-score against the new dimensions on their next analysis. What Goose recorded under the old one isn't deleted.

Settings, Sales Process, on the Methodology tab: MEDDPICC is the current methodology with its eight dimensions, and MEDDICC, BANT, SPICED and JOLT are offered below as alternatives.
Settings › Sales Process › Methodology: the framework Goose scores every deal against.

The CRM map tab is where an admin links the workspace to Salesforce.

What your teammates will see

  • Their setup skips Process and Invite. On the Brain step they see whether Goose Brain is on, but can't change it.
  • Your stages and methodology on every deal.
  • Deals, blank with No sales methodology selected, if no methodology is picked once the workspace has deals.
  • Settings › Sales Process and Settings › Members read-only. Only owners and admins change them.

Point new teammates at Getting started for their first day.
