How Goose works

What Goose reads, what it produces from it, and how Ask Gus answers questions.

Goose is a workspace for sales teams. It takes in your meetings, email and CRM, then turns them into prep before a call, notes and to-dos after it, and an up-to-date view of every deal.

What Goose reads

Your calendar. With Google Calendar connected, Goose knows your meetings, who's in them and which company they're with. In Settings › Integrations you choose which calendars it reads, and for each one whether its meetings are Only me or shared with your Team.

Your meetings. Goose doesn't join your calls. It takes in a meeting's transcript from one of these places:

  • The Goose companion, a desktop app that records the call on your computer. See The companion.
  • Granola, if you connect it. Goose matches your Granola notes to the meetings on your calendar, and keeps Granola's own summary, labeled Summary · Granola.
  • A transcript you upload. If the companion tried to record a meeting and nothing came through, the meeting shows Waiting for transcript with an Upload transcript button. Paste the text, or drag in a .txt, .vtt, .srt or .md file. On Home, a past customer meeting with no recording offers the same upload. See Upload a transcript.

Your email. If your workspace has Gmail and you connect it, Goose matches email to your deals, notices replies you owe, and checks whether a follow-up went out. Teammates can open the emails Goose matches to a deal. You can turn that off in Settings › Integrations.

Your CRM. Goose works with Salesforce. It reads your opportunities and pushes back the values you confirm. With Push to Salesforce automatically on, Goose pushes confirmed fields and the meeting note after one of your meetings on a deal you own is analyzed. Automatic push only fills a field that's blank in Salesforce or still holds what Goose last pushed there. Any other Salesforce value is left alone for you to review in the push checklist, and the deal's Salesforce tab shows both values. A workspace admin links Salesforce once, in Settings › Sales Process on the CRM map tab. Then each rep presses Connect on the Salesforce row in Settings › Integrations and signs in with their own login.

Your team's messages and documents. If your workspace has Slack or Google Drive connected, Goose draws on those too.

What Goose produces

Prep before a meeting. Goose prepares briefs automatically for upcoming meetings with people outside your company that are tied to a deal or a company, up to three days ahead. A brief covers the goal of the call, what has happened on the deal since the last one, and what's still unknown. If an upcoming meeting has no brief yet, open it and press Prepare a brief.

Notes after a meeting. Once the transcript is in, Goose writes a summary and pulls out the to-dos: what you owe, and what the customer owes. Internal meetings get a summary and to-dos too.

Follow-up emails. Goose drafts follow-up emails for you to review and edit. Create draft puts the email in your Gmail drafts, and you send it from Gmail. See Send a follow-up email.

A view of every deal. Each deal shows its stage, value and close date, the people involved, its meetings and emails, and its open to-dos. Goose Brain is what Goose remembers from the sources you connect. It's on for new workspaces, and a workspace admin can turn it off in Settings › Brain. When Brain is on and a deal has a recorded meeting, a Catch me up summary drawn from the deal's recorded meetings and related email sits at the top.

Ask Gus

Gus is the assistant inside Goose, in the Ask Gus panel. Ask Gus about your deals, meetings and email in plain words, check its answers against their sources, and, if your workspace allows it, have Gus make changes for you. See Ask Gus.
