Meetings
Why a meeting has no notes
What each status in the Follow-up column means when a meeting has no summary, and what to do about it.
Goose writes a meeting's summary and to-dos from its transcript. When a meeting that has happened has no notes, the Follow-up column on the Meetings page says why. Open the meeting for a longer explanation.
Each status, and what to do
| The Follow-up column says | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Not recorded | The meeting has ended and nobody recorded it, so Goose has no transcript to work from. | If you use Granola, wait: its notes can take up to four days to reach Goose, and the meeting fills in when they do. Otherwise, if the meeting's card on Home offers Add a transcript, use it. |
| Waiting for transcript | Goose's companion app tried to record the meeting, but no recording came through, or the recording was discarded. | Press Upload beside the status, or Upload transcript in the open meeting, and give Goose the transcript. If a connected tool has the call, Goose uses its transcript when it arrives. |
| Processing… | Goose is working on the call, or its recording is still uploading. An hour after the meeting ended, it says Still processing…. | Nothing. The meeting updates by itself when the summary is ready. |
| Goose didn't finish analyzing this meeting. | Goose has the recording, but the analysis hasn't started two hours after it arrived. | Press Analyze now. Anyone in the workspace can, unless their seat is read-only. |
| Needs review | Goose tried to analyze the call and it failed. It doesn't mean there's something for you to review. | Open the To-dos tab and press Analyze now. Only the person who recorded the call can do this; if the button disappears without anything happening, ask them. |
| Not analyzed · and a reason | Goose didn't start the analysis. The reason after the dot says why (see the next table). | Depends on the reason. |
Not analyzed: reasons
When Goose didn't start the analysis, the Follow-up column gives a short reason. Open the meeting to read the full sentence, which starts Goose didn't analyze this call because ….
| Reason | What to do |
|---|---|
| Check plan | Your workspace has reached a limit on its plan, such as running out of credits. When it's credits, the meeting links to Go to Plan & Usage. Once the limit is lifted, Goose analyzes the call by itself. |
| Ask an admin | Your seat is read-only, so Goose can't start new work for you. Ask a workspace admin to renew it. Goose then analyzes the call by itself. |
| Feature off | Meeting analysis is switched off for your workspace. Ask a workspace admin. |
| Retrying | A short-lived problem. Goose tries again by itself. |
| We're on it | A fault on Goose's side. It's recorded, and in most cases Goose retries by itself. |
| Too old to retry | The call is more than 30 days old, so Goose won't retry it. |
Add the transcript yourself
If you have a transcript of the call, from a video-call tool's own recording for example, you can give it to Goose:
- On a meeting that's Waiting for transcript, press Upload in the Follow-up column, or Upload transcript in the open meeting.
- On Home, a customer meeting that wasn't recorded may offer Add a transcript on its card.
Upload a transcript walks through the dialog.
Other snags
- The meeting isn't in the table. The Meetings page only holds the last 30 days. Use Search in the left rail (⌘K or Ctrl K) for older meetings. Some calendar entries also never show unless they were recorded: all-day events, anything eight hours or longer, and events with nobody else invited.
- There's a summary but no transcript. Where Open transcript would be, the meeting says Transcript not available: the transcript is no longer kept. If the meeting says This transcript was deleted at a participant’s request, it was removed on purpose and can't be brought back.
