Admin
Roles and what each can do
The four roles in a Goose workspace, what each one lets you do, and what changes when a seat is read-only.
Everyone in a workspace has one role: Member, Lead, Admin or Owner. Each role can do everything the roles before it can, plus a little more. Settings › Members lists everyone with their role.
To give someone a role or change it, see Invite and manage your team.
The four roles
- Member works on their own meetings and deals. They can see the workspace's settings but not change them.
- Lead can also work on the whole team's deals and meetings: edit or reassign any deal, and change the deal of any meeting the team can see.
- Admin can also change the workspace's settings, set up the sales process, and invite and manage people.
- Owner is the person who created the workspace. Only the owner can export or delete it, in Settings › Data & trust.

| Reassign deals to someone else | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Push a deal to Salesforce | Their own deals | Their own deals | Their own deals | Their own deals |
| See and revoke teammates' companion installs in Settings › Devices | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Edit the sales process (stages and methodology) | No | No | Yes | Yes |

A few rows need more detail:
- Seeing meetings. Most meetings are shared with the whole workspace, whatever your role. Some stay private to the person who owns them, and a higher role doesn't open them up. See Who can see your meetings.
- Recordings made with Record now. Only the person who recorded one can change its deal, whatever anyone else's role.
- Pushing to Salesforce. Only the deal's owner can push it, and only with their own Salesforce login connected. A lead, admin or owner can see a teammate's deal values but can't push them.
- Plan & usage. Each person's plan belongs to their own seat, and anyone can open their own.
- Changing roles. An admin can't make anyone an admin, but can change, suspend or remove another admin. Nobody can change the role of someone above them, and the last owner can't be removed or suspended.
- Companion installs. A lead, admin or owner can revoke a teammate's Mac in Settings › Devices. That Mac's companion then asks its owner to sign in again.
Persona isn't a role
Each person also has a persona: AE, SE or Manager. It shapes what Goose shows them first, not what they're allowed to do. An admin sets it from the person's ⋯ menu, with Make AE, Make SE or Make Manager. The one link to roles: for a member, the item reads Make Manager (raises to Lead), because choosing it also raises them to Lead. See Invite and manage your team.
Read-only seats
A seat becomes read-only when its trial ends or its subscription is canceled. This applies to anyone, whatever their role, including the owner.
On a read-only seat you can still open and read everything your role lets you see. You can't change anything in the workspace: no edits to deals or meetings, no pushes, no workspace settings. Goose says why where you'd normally act, for example Your trial ended, so this seat is read-only (or Your subscription ended, so this seat is read-only). If you try a change anyway, Goose says Your trial has ended — choose a plan to resume editing. (or Your subscription has ended — choose a plan to resume editing.)
To make changes again, choose a plan in Settings › Plan & usage.
Common snags
- "Only the meeting's owner or a lead can change its deal." The meeting belongs to a teammate. Ask them, or a lead, to change it.
- Settings › Sales Process says Read only. Only admins and the owner can change the sales process. The banner reads Read only. Ask an admin or owner to change the sales process.
- You can't push a teammate's deal to Salesforce. Only the deal's owner can. Ask them to push it.
- "… is the owner's to edit." You opened a teammate's deal. Only its owner or a lead can change it.
- You can't change your own role. Nobody can, not even the owner. Ask another admin or the owner.
- You can't make someone an admin. You can only give roles below your own, so only the owner can make admins.
- Nobody can take over as owner. Ownership can't be transferred. Write to support@getgoose.ai.
