Connections

Reconnect or disconnect

What to do when a connection needs attention, and what disconnecting a service removes and keeps.

When a connection needs attention

Sometimes a service stops accepting Goose's access, for example when its sign-in expires or someone removes Goose's access in that service. The row then moves to Needs attention in Settings › Integrations, with a Reconnect needed label and a line saying what stopped, such as Google authorization expired — calendar sync is paused until you reconnect. The count at the top of the page shows how many need attention.

To fix it, press Reconnect on the row and sign in again. For Granola, paste a new API key and press Reconnect. Goose picks up where it left off.

Granola has no Reconnect button while it's working. To swap its key, disconnect it and connect again with the new key.

A connected row can also ask you to reconnect to allow something new, such as Reconnect to allow drafts and sending on Gmail. The connection keeps working for what it already did. Press Reconnect to allow the rest.

You can also press Reconnect on a healthy row. It runs the same sign-in again.

Disconnect a service

  1. Open Settings › Integrations.
  2. On the row, press Disconnect.
  3. Read the message, then press Disconnect to confirm, or Cancel.

The row moves to Available, and you can connect it again at any time.

What disconnecting removes and keeps

Disconnecting deletes the sign-in or key Goose stored for that service, so Goose stops reading from it. What Goose already brought in stays.

ServiceWhat stopsWhat stays
Google CalendarGoose stops reading your calendar.Meetings already in Goose.
Gmail (where available)Goose stops reading your email and can't save drafts to Gmail. Teammates can no longer open the full text of your emails, because Goose fetches it from your Gmail each time.Emails already matched to deals.
GranolaGoose removes its connection in Granola and deletes your key. No new notes come in.Meetings already brought in from Granola.
SalesforceSyncing with Salesforce stops for you.Deals and data already in Goose.
Slack (admins)Goose stops reading new messages, and every member's private-channel connection is disconnected too. Members authorize again after you reconnect.Channels already read, which stay searchable in Goose Brain. Your channel choices come back when you reconnect.

Disconnecting only affects your own connections. Slack is the exception: it's one connection for the whole workspace, so only an admin can disconnect it, and it stops for everyone.

When someone leaves the workspace

When someone is removed from the workspace, Goose stops syncing their connections. Their meetings and the emails matched to deals stay. Meetings that came from a calendar they set to Only me stay private. Teammates can no longer open the full text of their emails.

If they were the admin who connected Slack, another admin presses Reconnect on the Slack row.

Revoke the owner's integrations at once

The workspace owner can disconnect their own services and the workspace's Slack in one go, in Settings › Data & trust, under Connected integrations. Teammates' own Google, Salesforce and Granola connections aren't affected; each person disconnects those in Settings › Integrations. Each teammate's personal Slack connection goes with the workspace's Slack.

  1. Press Revoke all integrations.
  2. Press Revoke all to confirm, or Keep them.

This disconnects the owner's own services (Salesforce, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive and Granola), and Slack for the whole workspace. Goose also asks Google, Salesforce and Slack to cancel its access on their side. Nothing Goose already has is removed, and each service can be connected again later from Settings › Integrations.

Pressed it by mistake?

  • Nothing Goose captured is lost. Reconnect each service from Settings › Integrations.
  • If reconnecting says Goose is still disconnecting this service. Try again in a few minutes., wait a few minutes, then try again.
  • Slack needs an admin to approve Goose in Slack again, and members add their private channels again. Your channel choices are kept.

Common snags

  • Disconnecting says Goose is still disconnecting this service. A revoke is still finishing. Try again in a few minutes.
  • Disconnecting says your workspace changed in another tab. Reload the page, then try again.
  • Connecting says Access wasn't granted. The full message is Access wasn't granted. Remove Goose from your provider's connected apps, then connect again. Remove Goose from the connected apps in your Google or Salesforce account, then press Connect again.
  • I removed Goose from my Google account, and now Calendar and Gmail both need attention. Removing Goose in Google can cancel both connections. Press Reconnect on each row under Needs attention.
  • Goose still appears in my Google account's list of connected apps. Disconnecting a single service deletes Goose's stored access but doesn't remove Goose from that list. Remove it there if you want to.
