Referrals

The "crafted with Goose" line at the bottom of your emails, your referral link, and the credits you both earn when someone you refer starts paying.

When Goose saves an email to your Gmail drafts, it adds one small line at the bottom that links to Goose. You send it from Gmail as usual. This needs Gmail connected, which isn't available in every workspace yet.

The link in that line is your own referral link. When someone signs up through it and later pays for a plan, you both get bonus credits. This page explains the line, how a referral works from click to credits, and what you see in Settings › Referrals. To stop adding the line, see Turn the line off. To check on someone you referred, see People you referred.

The line at the bottom of your emails

Under each draft in Goose's email editor you'll see a small gray line with a lock:

This email was crafted with Goose, try it here

The end of a follow-up draft in Goose's editor, with the sign-off and, under it, a small gray line with a lock: This email was crafted with Goose, try it here.
The line sits under your draft. You can't edit it there; turn it off in Settings › Referrals.
  • It's on by default. Only you can turn it off, for your own emails, in Settings › Referrals. See Turn the line off.
  • You can't edit or delete it inside Goose's editor. It isn't part of the email text. Hover over it to see where to turn it off.
  • If you've connected Gmail, the line is added after your signature when Goose saves the email to your Gmail drafts. What you see in your Gmail draft is what your recipient gets.
  • "try it here" is your referral link: getgoose.ai/r/ followed by your code. Email apps that show plain text get the same sentence with the link written out.

What your recipient sees

The line sits under your signature in small gray text. If they click try it here, they land on an invite page from you. It shows your name and company, the note you wrote in Settings › Referrals, and what they get if they join. From there they can start a free trial.

Your link also lets them skip the Goose waitlist, as long as they join it in the browser they clicked your link in. Most people get straight in. When a lot of people have come in through referral links recently, they're queued and let in, oldest first, as space opens up. Each link lets at most 5 people skip the waitlist in any 7 days; anyone after that waits in line.

How a referral works

  1. You send. Someone clicks the link in one of your emails, or a link you shared yourself.
  2. They create a workspace. They have 60 days from their most recent click on a referral link to sign up and create their own workspace. That's when the referral is recorded. They start on a free trial, and nobody earns anything for a trial.
  3. They pay. When they pay their first invoice for a paid plan, they get bonus credits straight away.
  4. You earn. Your bonus credits land about 30 days after their first payment, once their refund window has closed.

The rules

  • Only a paid plan counts. Trials, and people who never pay, earn nothing for either of you. A first invoice that comes to $0 doesn't count.
  • You need to be on a paid plan yourself. A trial, or a plan with an overdue payment, doesn't count. If you're not paying when your bonus comes due, it waits, and Goose checks again daily.
  • A refund stops your half. Any refund of their first payment within the 30 days, full or partial, means you don't get your bonus. They keep theirs. Canceling isn't a refund: if they cancel, both bonuses still stand.
  • Bonus credits aren't reversed once they land. Unused bonus credits expire 12 months after they land, like top-up credits.
  • Colleagues count, as long as they're new to Goose and start their own paid plan. A teammate who's already in a Goose workspace doesn't count.
  • Only new customers count. Someone who joins an existing workspace from a teammate's invite isn't a referral, and never shows in your list. Someone who already uses Goose, or has had a Goose plan before, even one canceled during its trial, shows as Not eligible.
  • The last link counts. If someone clicks two people's links, the referral goes to whoever's link they clicked last before creating their workspace. Each person can be referred only once.
  • There's no limit on how many people you can refer.

When credits land

  • For the person you referred: the moment their first paid invoice clears. Their activity feed says their welcome bonus landed.
  • For you: about 30 days later (Goose checks once a day). Your activity feed says your referral started paying. If Goose is open at that moment, a pop-up also says the referral bonus was added.

When someone creates a workspace through your link, your activity feed also tells you, for example "Someone at example.com started a trial from your email".

Bonus credits go into your own credit balance, never a workspace pool. In Settings › Plan & usage, the Referral bonuses line shows the referral credits added to your balance this credit period, including a welcome bonus if you were referred. It's hidden when there are none.

Settings › Referrals

Open Settings, then Referrals under Personal.

  • Your referral link, with Copy. Paste it anywhere you like: a message, your email signature, a post. Your link is created the first time you open Settings › Referrals or draft an email in Goose, and it never changes. Turning the line off and back on keeps the same link and history.
  • Add the referral line to my emails: the switch for the line. When it's on, you see the line as your recipients will.

Your note on the invite page

Write a short note, up to 280 characters, in your own words. People who click your link see it first, signed with your name. It saves as you type. Leave it empty and the invite page just says you use Goose to write your follow-ups.

From email to reward

A row of counts for everything your link has ever done:

  • Link clicks: every visit to your link, including repeat visits and your own.
  • Signed up: people who created a workspace through your link, with the share of clicks that got this far.
  • Paying: people who have paid, with the share of signups that got this far.
  • Credits earned: all the referral credits you've received, including your own welcome bonus if you were referred.

People you referred

Each person who created a workspace through your link, shown by their company's web domain, never their name or email. Each row has a status:

StatusWhat it means
In trial · not paid yetThey're on their free trial. A bar shows Trial day N of 14, counted from the day they created their workspace.
Paying · your bonus is on its wayThey've paid. Your bonus credits land about 30 days after their first payment.
Paying · rewardedYour bonus has landed.
Trial endedTheir 14 days passed without a payment. If they pay later, it still counts and the row moves to Paying.
Not eligibleThis one won't earn a bonus.

The page doesn't show why a row is Not eligible. It's one of these: they were already a Goose customer (in another workspace, or they had a Goose plan before, even one canceled during its trial), it was your own link, a card you've used paid for their plan, or they signed up more than 60 days after their last click on a referral link. A row can switch from In trial to Not eligible when they pay, if the card check rules it out.

A row stays at Paying · your bonus is on its way even if their first payment was refunded, so a bonus that hasn't landed by about day 31 most likely won't.

Your rewards, and how it works

Your rewards shows the total your referrals have earned you this calendar year, and lists every bonus that has landed, with its date. Bonuses still waiting aren't listed there. How it works repeats the steps and rules on this page.

Turn the line off

  1. Open Settings › Referrals.
  2. Turn off Add the referral line to my emails.

From then on, drafts Goose saves to your Gmail go out without the line. Drafts already saved to Gmail keep the line. Delete the line in Gmail before you send, or delete that draft and save a new one from Goose.

Turning the line off doesn't turn off referrals. Your link still works, and you can still share it yourself.

Common snags

  • I don't see the line under my draft. Check Add the referral line to my emails in Settings › Referrals. If it's on and the line still isn't there, close the draft and open it again.
  • Someone signed up, but they aren't in my list. Your link is remembered only in the browser they clicked it in. If they created their workspace on another device, in a private window, or after clearing their cookies, the referral wasn't recorded. Ask them to click your link again in the browser they'll use, before they create their workspace. People who joined a teammate's workspace from an invite never show.
  • A row says Not eligible. They were already a Goose customer (or had a Goose plan before, even one canceled during its trial), it was your own link, a card you've used paid for their plan, or they signed up more than 60 days after their last click on a referral link. None of these earns a bonus.
  • The status says Trial ended. Their 14-day trial finished without a payment. If they pay later, it still counts.
  • They're paying, but I have no credits yet. Your bonus lands about 30 days after their first payment.
  • More than 30 days and the bonus still hasn't landed. Either you weren't on a paid plan when it came due (it lands once you are), or their first payment was refunded, in which case it won't land.
