Ask Gus
What Gus can see
Gus sees what you can see in Goose, plus what your workspace has added to Goose Brain, such as email, Slack channels set to In memory, and Drive documents. Which meetings, email, Slack and documents that covers, and who can see your conversations.
Gus looks things up as you. For meetings, it reads only what you could open yourself in Goose, so two people asking the same question can get different answers. What your workspace has added to Goose Brain, such as email, Slack channels set to In memory, and Drive documents, is open to everyone in the workspace, so Gus can answer from it for anyone. The chip under the panel's title narrows what Gus looks at. Widening it to All memory doesn't let Gus read anything beyond these.
Meetings
Gus follows the same rules as the rest of Goose. It can answer from a meeting, its transcript, its notes and its to-dos only if you can see that meeting:
- A meeting shared with your workspace is open to everyone, so Gus can use it for anyone who asks.
- A meeting that's private to its owner is open only to them (and to anyone else invited to it whose own calendar has it). For everyone else, Gus doesn't use it. A to-do from it stays visible to the person it's assigned to.
- A meeting someone has hidden with Hide from Goose isn't used for anyone. A to-do from it stays visible to the person it's assigned to.
If a meeting turns private or is hidden, Gus stops using it straight away. To see which meetings are shared, and how to change that, read Who can see your meetings.
Email, Slack and documents
What Goose keeps from customer email, Slack and Google Drive is shared with your workspace. Gus can answer from it for anyone in the workspace.
- Email. If Goose Brain is on, Goose keeps passages from email threads that are matched to a deal or company and include someone at that company. Gus can answer from them for anyone in the workspace, and each thread's subject shows on the Brain page in the left rail, even when the person whose mailbox they came from has turned off Let teammates open the full email. That switch only stops teammates opening the full email itself. Threads with only your own team on them are never kept. See Gmail.
- Slack private channels. If someone adds a private Slack channel to Goose (an admin, or any member if an admin has switched on Members can add private channels), and an admin turns on In memory for it, everyone in your workspace can get what's said in it by asking Gus, including people who aren't in the channel. See Slack.
- Drive documents. If a document's name isn't yours to read, its source chip shows only the kind of document, not its name.
Deals, companies and people
Deals, companies and contacts are open to everyone in your workspace, so Gus can look up any of them for you.
When Goose Brain is off
Goose Brain is what Goose remembers from the sources you connect. If your workspace has turned it off, the panel says Goose Brain is off for this workspace. Gus can still look up your deals and meetings, but it can't search transcripts, email, Slack or documents, so its answers come without those sources. An admin can turn Brain back on in Settings › Brain.
Who can see your conversations
Your conversations with Gus are yours. Teammates can't open them, and they don't appear in anyone else's history.
Changes Gus files for you to confirm are different: they appear in Agent proposals, which everyone in your workspace can see. If you ask Gus to share a private meeting, the proposal shows the meeting's title to everyone in your workspace. See What Gus can change for you.
